Wright-House Price Cut

February 05, 2010 - California

Ennis House California

The owners of an iconic Los Angeles house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and inspired by ancient Mayan architecture have cut its price to $10.5 million, 30% less than the $15 million asked last June.

Atop a promontory on a half-acre in the city's Los Feliz neighborhood, the 6,000-square-foot estate includes a three-bedroom main house, and separate chauffeur's quarters.

The 1924 home, called the Ennis house, is one of four Mr. Wright constructed with interlocking pre-cast concrete blocks, some patterned and others smooth.

The seller, the nonprofit Ennis House Foundation, is looking for a steward to buy and restore the house, which was damaged by the 1994 Northridge earthquake and torrential rains a decade later.

Jeff Hyland shares the listing with Rick Hilton and Aaron Kirman of Christie's Great Estates affiliate Hilton & Hyland and Mark Dilbeck and Ray Hayes of Dilbeck Realtors.
