World's largest artificial island for sale
April 18, 2012 - Denmark

An island created in 1890 by King Christian IX is now for sale. Middelgrundsfortet is the largest artificial island, not connected to land, in the world.
The island, located only 15 minutes off the coast of the Danish capital, is approximately 70.000 m2 with a built up area of approximately 15.000 m2.
The fortress is protected as a heritage site because of the great cultural and historical value as a preserved piece of coastal defense.
The fort includes a port well-equipped for both private and commercial marine purposes.
During recent years the fortress has primarily served as a hotel, seminar and conference venue.
Many companies have made use of the fort's facilities, such as its well-equipped rooms and halls, a modern restaurant, nightclub, bar and billiard lounge, etc.

The Hotel section includes 88 excellent beds in 24 rooms and a furnished commander's dwelling with living quarters in a beautiful maritime style.
The fortress features a total of 200 rooms with 4km of hallways. 2.5 million tons of solid granite were used to create this masterpiece.
Middelgrundsfortet is accessible by boat, but the island also features a helipad.
King's Island is priced at 6,800,000 Euro (about $9,500,000). For more information please visit privateislandsonline.com
