Monaco's Residential Spaces are World's Most Expensive

Monaco was the world's most expensive luxury residential market last year for the third straight year because of demand from wealthy buyers in the Mediterranean principality, which levies no personal income tax.

According to a global index of luxury home prices compiled by Knight Frank, the average cost of a house or apartment in Monaco was $US65,600 a square metre.

London was the second most expensive market at $US56,300 a square metre, while Paris was fifth at $US40,500.

Monaco penthouse flat sells for $300 million

A penthouse in Monaco has been sold for a whopping €240 million (over $300 million), which may be the biggest residential property sale of all time.

An unnamed Middle Eastern investor has bought the lavish 17,500 sq ft Monaco penthouse La Belle Epoque from British property developer brothers Christian and Nick Candy, reports the Telegraph.

Each suite in the penthouse, the top two floors of a block of flats, has its own cinema, kitchen, dressing room and two bathrooms, and it has a spa, library and gardens.

Monaco Home to World's Most Expensive Residential Property

Prices of prime Phuket property are amongst the cheapest of the world's most popular international homes market according to a new report.

The International Residential Report published by Chesterton Humberts discovered the price of new homes on the Thai island were EUR3,500 (US$4,460) per sqm.

Prices for similar homes in Singapore were recorded at EUR16,200 (US$20,650), and at EUR19,500 (US$24,850) in Hong Kong.

Monaco remains the world's most expensive location for property, with prices for a second hand home coming it at EUR45,000 (US$57,350) per sqm.

Top 10 most expensive streets in the world

Avenue Princesse Grace is the most expensive street in the world to buy property, where $120,000 will purchase just one square metre of prime real estate, according to a survey by Wealth Bulletin.

Prime residential property on the top 10 most expensive streets in the world saw their overall value fall by 12% in the last year, the survey found, with European streets faring better than their US and emerging markets counterparts.


That compares with price falls of between 20% to 30% in mainstream property prices in London and New York over the same period.
