Phuket property market to see continious improvement

Phuket's residential property market has shown signs of improvement in line with the global economic recovery, according to new research from Knight Frank Thailand.

The company's Managing Director Phanom Kanjanathiemthao said the market should see continuous improvement if not affected by any future political turmoil.

He said: "Although the market was slow in the second quarter due to the political situations, there was no new supply launched so it didn't affect the market much.

However, foreign investors and buyers have started making more inquiries for villas during the past two months".

Phuket buyers adopt a cautious approach

Holiday home buyers of resort condominiums on the Thai island of Phuket have adopted a more cautious approach, concentrating on completed and well-managed properties.

According to professional services firm Jones Lang LaSalle, the Phuket holiday home market has seen a slowdown in sales since the global financial crisis escalated in the final quarter of 2008.

It was not until the final quarter of 2009 when the market sentiment started picking up as economies in most parts of the world showed signs of recovery.

However, the recent political unrest in Thailand have softened buyer confidence, resulting in a slower recovery process in the Phuket market.

In Thailand, Villa Yin and Villa Yang

Along the west coast of the Phuket peninsula, along a pitted road called “Millionaire’s Mile,” sits the Cape Sol development and Villa Yin, a property owned by Laurent and Chantal Broda.

The house, completed in 2008 after four years of planning and construction, reflects a kind of “new Thai” style.

Its streamlined pitched roofs and deep eaves nod to Thai architecture, but the home, which sprawls over several levels, has none of the ornamentation found in traditional structures.
