Keppel to develop township in Vietnam

Singapore developer Keppel Land said it has entered into a joint venture with Vietnamese developers, Tien Phuoc and Tran Thai, through wholly-owned subsidiary Flemmington Investments to develop a waterfront residential township in Ho Chi Minh City’s prime District 2 area.

Keppel said this development is a pilot programme that will be developed in phases.

Keppel will build a social housing project of about 1, 800 apartments and then transfer it to the city.

Vietnam’s first international real estate expo

An exposition and a series of seminars on international real estate, VNREA EXPO, will be held in Ho Chi Minh City from September 20-24.

According to the Vietnam Real Estate Association (VNREA), the expo will be an annual event to support the development of Vietnam's real estate market and the completion of a policy system for this sector.

Vietnam's second home market, particularly the luxury segment, is still in its nascent stages, but the country's delicate mix of cosmopolitan luxury and old world charm has seized the attention of global investors.

You could easily pass an afternoon in Ho Chi Minh City sipping café sua da (strong Vietnamese coffee with a dollop of sweetened condensed milk) on Dong Khoi Street watching shoppers lug their wares from the nearby Louis Vuitton boutique.

Or you could meander the streets of Hanoi's Old Quarter, enjoying the French colonial architecture until you feel the need to rest with a cheap bowl of rice noodles at a local vendor's formica table.
