Countrywide Acquires U.K. Franchise for Sotheby's International Realty Brand

Sotheby's International Realty Affiliates LLC today announced the signing of an exclusive 25-year licensing agreement for the United Kingdom with Countrywide, the U.K.'s largest estate agency and property services group.
Under the agreement, Countrywide has the exclusive license to the Sotheby's International Realty® brand across the United Kingdom and Channel Islands.
Countrywide will create a new subsidiary called United Kingdom Sotheby's International Realty to operate its new luxury brokerage business in those regions

A 52% Cut From $100 Million

Unable to sell her 300-acre English country estate in Charlottesville, Va., philanthropist Patricia Kluge is now listing the property at $48 million, 52% off the original $100 million asking price in October.
Ms. Kluge, 61 years old, is the former wife of billionaire John Kluge, founder of the Metromedia broadcast and cellphone empire.
The estate, near Thomas Jefferson's Monticello, includes a 45-room neo-Georgian manse of about 23,500 square feet with eight bedrooms and 13 baths.
