World's Richest Man Buys Last Mansion on Fifth Avenue

Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim is extending his reach in New York with purchase of a century-old Beaux Arts townhouse on Fifth Avenue for $44 million - one of the most expensive townhouse sales ever in the city.
Last month, Slim paid $140 million for an 11-story office building at 417 Fifth Avenue in Midtown. Slim is a major investor in the New York Times.
Slim built a telecommunications empire in Mexico and now tops Forbes magazine's list of the richest people in the world.

Donald J. Trump is considering real estate investments including casinos and golf courses in the former Soviet republic of Georgia, said Michael Cohen, executive vice president of the Trump Organization.
"I'm here to walk the land and smell the dirt," Cohen said in an interview last week in the Georgian capital Tbilisi.
"My trip comes after Mr. Trump was impressed by President Mikheil Saakashvili's visit to New York and the conversation they had about the future of Georgia. We're looking for profit from Georgia."

Microsoft Corp. co-founder Paul Allen has bought a contemporary oceanfront home in Malibu, Calif., through a corporation, for more than $25 million.
The modular, white stucco-and-glass house is on Carbon Beach, the "Billionaire's Beach" where Hollywood moguls David Geffen and Jeffrey Katzenberg are owners.
The roughly 5,800-square-foot home, listed for $29.5 million, has five bedrooms, a deck with a pool, a gym and a screening room, according to the listing.

The Wall Street Journal's Private Properties reports that billionaire software entrepreneur and philanthropist Tom Siebel is selling his 62,000-acre Montana cattle ranch for $45 million.
The N Bar Ranch is located about 90 miles north of Billings, Montana and is one of the state's oldest and largest cattle ranches.
The ranch has a carrying capacity estimated at over 2,000 animals and offers a varied landscape that includes meadows, pastures, timber and open range.
