Obama's 'Winter White House' sells for $6.9 million

The beachfront Hawaii home that President Barack Obama and his family have rented during their last two Christmas vacations has been sold for $6.9 million.

The approximately 4,900-square-foot Kailua estate, which was built in 2006, was sold to Paradise Point Estates LLC, a company managed by Glenn Weinberg of Owings Mills, Maryland.

It is a five-bedroom, 5-1/2-bath plantation-style home on roughly 27,000 square feet of land and includes swimming beach frontage.

Paul Fireman's Nevada Ranch Lists for $50 Million

A Nevada ranch, one of the largest in the West, with access to nearly one million acres of land, has hit the market for $50 million.

Public records show the ranch is owned by a corporation headed by Paul Fireman, the former chairman and chief executive of Reebok and the chairman of Fireman Capital Partners.

The Winecup-Gamble Ranch contains 247,000 acres of deeded land and permitted grazing access to roughly 750,000 additional acres of public and private land. It's about 100 miles from Elko, Nev. Established in the late 19th century, the working cattle ranch can handle up to 10,000 cows.

Media Mogul Malone Buys New Mexico Ranch

Media mogul John Malone closed this week on a 290,100-acre ranch whose original asking price in 2007 was $115 million.

More recently, the working cattle ranch, known as Bell Ranch, was listed for $83 million with 40,000 acres added; they were included in Mr. Malone's purchase.

The Liberty Media chairman, whose media interests include QVC and investments in Time Warner Cable and concert promoter Live Nation Entertainment, purchased through a limited-liability company he formed with his wife, Leslie, records show.

A home near Los Angeles linked to Priscilla Presley is on the market for just under $7 million, 22% less than its original nearly $9 million asking price. The ranch-style house has been on the market since last year.

The ex-wife of Elvis Presley-with whom she had a daughter, singer Lisa Marie Presley-Priscilla Presley is listed as a trustee of the property.

The home is nearly 8,000 square feet and sits on three acres, according to the listing.

Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim is extending his reach in New York with purchase of a century-old Beaux Arts townhouse on Fifth Avenue for $44 million - one of the most expensive townhouse sales ever in the city.

Last month, Slim paid $140 million for an 11-story office building at 417 Fifth Avenue in Midtown. Slim is a major investor in the New York Times.

Slim built a telecommunications empire in Mexico and now tops Forbes magazine's list of the richest people in the world.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have just purchased an 18,000 square foot villa in Valpolicella, Italy for $40 million, according to Sky Italy.

The house has 15 bedrooms, seven baths, a theater, a gym, two swimming pools and Jacuzzi and is situated on a plot of 5,000 square meters.

The couple bought the mansion after looking at two other less expensive properties in the area, one priced at $13 million and the other $10 million.

Blufftop mansion relists at $49 million

Software-company founder Frank Pritt has relisted his Orange County mansion for $49.6 million, down from the $75 million he originally sought in 2006.

Mr. Pritt founded Attachmate Corp., which specializes in a range of business-to-business products.

The 22,000-square-foot beachfront estate in Corona del Mar is called "Portabello" and has eight bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and two saltwater swimming pools surrounded by grotto cliffs.
