Swire Properties completes OPUS HONG KONG

Swire properties recently announced the completion of Frank Gehry's first residential building in Asia: OPUS Hong Kong.

This was a shared vision between Swire Properties and Pritzker Prize winner Frank Gehry to create a new kind of domestic architecture in Asia.

"We are delighted to be the first to bring Frank Gehry's groundbreaking architecture to China," said Martin Cubbon, Chief Executive of Swire Properties.

Frank Gehry's first residential project in Asia is set to break the record for the highest rent in Hong Kong. The new residential building labelled Opus Hong Kong is 12-storeys high and features 12 units.

Martin Cubbon chief executive of Swire properties said that the new residential building would break record high costs.

"We haven't set the price yet, but it is fare to assume it to be the highest in Hong Kong- record breaking, " Mr Cubbon said.

Peak price of $75m for French consul's home in Hong Kong

Paris authorities cash in on the red hot market by selling official residence - and then renting it back.


The French government made a "good deal" in Hong Kong's red hot property market last week, selling its official residence on the Peak for HK$580 million ($74.5 million), their consul-general in Hong Kong and Macau said.

But Arnaud Barthelemy denied it was property speculation, saying it was part of Paris's worldwide review of their real estate assets.

The World’s Richest Street: Hong Kong’s Severn Road

Hong Kong's Severn Road, a winding street of mansions and tony apartments, is still the priciest address on the planet.

For the second year running, Financial News has determined that properties on Severn Road cost more per square foot than those anywhere else.

The financial publication surveyed real-estate agents around the world to compile its list of the 10 most-expensive streets.

Properties on Severn Road were valued at US$78,200 a square meter (about US$8,689 a square foot), up from US$70,000 in last year's survey.

Luxury Hong Kong land plot sells for record 233 million US dollars

A plot of luxury Hong Kong land went for a record price at auction Tuesday, defying an effort by the government to temper the top end of the real-estate market.

Lee Shau-kee, the 82-year-old tycoon who controls blue-chip property player Henderson Land Development Co., paid 1.82 billion Hong Kong dollars (US$233 million), or about HK$68,000 per square foot, for the site.

The price was above market expectations and a record high for a Hong Kong auction of luxury residential land, according to auctioneers Jones Lang LaSalle.
