Inside Bill Koch's $80 Million Aspen Ranch
March 22, 2016 - Aspen
Billionaire industrialist William Koch is discounting his Aspen estate by $20 million, bringing the price tag to $80 million.
Known as Elk Mountain Lodge, the property is being listed by Joshua Saslove, Raifie Bass and Wendy Wogan of Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
Most recently listed at $100 million with another firm, the property sits on roughly 83 acres about 10 miles from downtown Aspen, according to Douglas Elliman. The eight-bedroom main house on the property measures roughly 15,000 square feet.
With views of the surrounding mountains, it has two hot tubs, a dining room that seats about 20 people, temperature-controlled wine storage and a media room that doubles as an altitude acclimation room. The asking price includes the furniture, but not Mr. Koch’s well-known art collection.
The property also includes three other parcels with houses on them. The Crystal parcel, on roughly 22 acres, has an entertainment hall and a full indoor basketball court.
The roughly 7-acre Ashcroft parcel includes a roughly 4,200-square-foot house with four bedrooms and an outdoor hot tub. The three-bedroom American Lake house, on 1.5 acres, measures about 2,600 square feet.
The parcels can also be sold separately, Mr. Saslove said. The main lodge and its surrounding 52 acres are being offered for $60 million; the Crystal parcel is available for $8.375 million, and the Ashcroft parcel for $7.375 million.
The American Lake parcel is priced at $4.25 million, but is only available with the purchase of the main lodge.
