Richard Chamberlain in Maui, Estate of the Day
May 11, 2010 - Hawaii
Actor Richard Chamberlain is asking $19 million for his oceanfront home on the island of Maui.
Mr. Chamberlain, 76, known for his roles in "Dr. Kildare" and the miniseries "Shogun" and "The Thorn Birds," spent around four years building the more than 6,000-square-foot home.
The six-bedroom home, completed in 2005, sits on a gated half-acre in Wailea with more than 100 feet of beach frontage.
The concrete home has a spa and screening room. The living area opens to a patio, and there's a two-bedroom carriage house.
There are two master suites, a formal dining room, atrium, library, media room and chefs kitchen.
The decor combines luxe minimalism with a subtle Asian theme. This home is listed at $19 million.
The longtime Hawaii resident, who's keeping a place in the state, recently moved to Los Angeles to focus on his acting. Mr. Chamberlain has an upcoming role on the TNT show "Leverage."
Nancy Callahan of Island Sotheby's International Realty has the listing.
