February 24, 2011 - Ho Chi Minh
Recent news reports suggest Joe Jackson, father of the late pop icon, Michael Jackson, has invested in a US$2 billion multi-use complex in Vietnam.
The development, named "Happy Land", is to include 3-5 star hotels, amusement park, theatres, restaurants, shopping centres, nightclubs and a Vietnamese cultural centre.
Situated a twenty minute drive from Ho Chi Minh City in the Ben Luc District, it is set for completion in May 2014 and will be the largest entertainment centre in Vietnam and South East Asia.
At "Happy Land's" grand opening ceremony last week, Jackson, the 82 year old former Jackson 5 promoter said, "I like this project the most because it is located in a beautiful cultural and natural space."
The complex, designed by Las Vegas based architects Steelman Partners, has reserved US$600 million of the total US$2 billion investment fund for the 15 hectacre theme park, with investors confident of attracting 14 million tourists each year.
