The Residences at W Retreat Koh Samui
July 22, 2010 - Koh Samui
Style-conscious jet-setters with US$4 million to spare might want to consider these contemporary tropical residences, part of the upcoming W Retreat Koh Samui.
Owned and developed by Amburaya Hotels & Resorts and Istithmar World, the resort occupies a striking location on Koh Samui's north shore where two bays come together at a sandy point and lush terrain rises up the hillside.
Entering the retreat at an elevation, guests are greeted by a curved lotus pond swimming pool and endless ocean views beyond.
The project's 17 branded residences are discreetly positioned on the hillside. Designed by Bangkok-based P49 Design, they are a study in tropical Zen-style, "but with New York attitude" says Carl Almeida of P49.
"This means there are hidden surprises, flashes of colour, and an underlying vibe that comes alive at night time".
Privacy, scale and exclusivity were prime concerns for the homes, which range from 1,000 to 2,752 sq m, and include several living pavilions, outdoor terraces and a swimming pool.
Villa residents will also be able to bask in the lifestyle afforded by the resort - including the pristine 900-metre shoreline and an array of glamorous amenities such as the signature 24-hour whatever/Whenever® concierge service, preferred dining reservations at the signature restaurants, and relaxing in the W living room or Sweat gym or aWay Spa.
