Pierre Hotel penthouse price slashed to $57 Million
May 12, 2016 - Manhattan
The triplex penthouse at Manhattan’s Pierre hotel has a new look: In the cavernous living room that was once the hotel’s ballroom, oil paintings and Oriental rugs have been replaced by contemporary furnishings. The apartment also has a new, lower price: $57 million.
The 16-room co-op has been on and off the market several times since it was put up for sale in 2013 for $125 million. But after it failed to sell at its most recent price of $63 million, owner Barbara Zweig decided to take a different tack.
Last fall she took the apartment off the market, removed her furniture and hired staging company Interior Marketing Group (IMG) to give the five-bedroom apartment “a more contemporary living style,” said Mary K. Rutherfurd of Brown Harris Stevens, who is listing the property with her daughter Leslie R. Coleman [...]
IMG removed the carpeting from the black marble staircase and replaced the patterned wallpaper in the master bedroom. In the entry foyer, mirrored walls have given way to neutral grasscloth wallpaper.
Spanning the 41st to 43rd floors of the hotel, the apartment has four terraces, three kitchenettes in addition to the main kitchen, a sauna and a private elevator. The monthly maintenance of $48,080 includes a dedicated two-person housekeeping staff.
