January 17, 2019 - Manhattan
Lewis Hamiltonhas purchased a $40 million penthouse in Manhattan. According to the Wall Street Journal, the property is sitting just one block away from another home that the five-time world champion is thought to own in the plush Tribeca neighbourhood of New York City.
The Journal claims that Hamilton has purchased the living space at 70 Vestry Street – a building part-owned by NFL star quarterback Tom Brady and his wife, model Gisele Bündchen.
Hamilton's previous dip into the New York property market was a $43 million purchase of a five-bedroom property at 433 Greenwich Street – literally around the corner from his new pad.
The penthouse has four bedrooms and spans about 6,547 square feet plus more than 3,000 square feet of outdoor space, according to marketing materials.
The home has unobstructed views of the Hudson River.
The building has a gated porte-cochère that leads into a courtyard to protect the privacy of its residents, as well as an 82-foot-long swimming pool, a fitness center, a squash court, a library and a lounge where residents can host seated dinners and cocktail parties.
Hamilton officially resides in Monaco, owning an apartment in a block in which several Formula 1 drivers also live, but the five-time world champion is an avid traveller, often hopping across continents when he's not racing.
