Its style bears witness to the architectural revolution initiated by Philibert de l'Orme, and is a contemporary of Louis XIII's hunting lodge which was to be transformed to create Versailles Chateau.

Accessed by means of a magnificent drive lined with lime trees, the superb walled grounds feature sumptuous French formal gardens with water features, box hedges and antique statues, as well as Italian-style gardens also with water features and fountains. Boasting majestic centennial trees, the grounds are crossed by a branch of the River Eure and feature a "romantic" lake, an orchard and a greenhouse.
