Location

The Pheasantry is situated within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and in a Site of Special Scientific Interest around 6 miles north of Henley-on-Thames.

Pishill is a small country village with excellent local pubs and fine country walking options throughout and also offers excellent horse riding and cycling.

The pretty market town of Watlington is closeby and has an excellent range of local shopping and leisure facilities. The bustling riverside towns of either Wallingford, 7 miles, or Henley on Thames, 10 miles, have a more extensive range of amenities.

Secondary school education can be found at Icknield Community College in Watlington and Lord Williams's School in Thame, which also has a sixth form. School buses operate nearby to Cranford House, The Oratory and the Abingdon schools. There are a wide range of schools in Oxford and Abingdon such as the Dragon, Headington, St Edwards and Radley College.

The nearby market town of Watlington has excellent local shopping facilities and the larger towns of Henley-on-Thames and Marlow offer extensive leisure and recreational facilities. The city of Oxford is accessible via the M40 with the Oxford Tube bus service running from Lewknor to London/Oxford 24 hours a day.

Mainline train services run from Haddenham, Thame Parkway, Princes Risborough and High Wycombe to London Marylebone. Bus services run to Heathrow and Gatwick airports. There is extensive walking, cycling and riding in the surrounding Chilterns countryside.

Description

The Pheasantry is believed to date from 1840 with handsome red brick elevations under a clay tiled roof.
The principal reception room/drawing room has a lovely red brick open fireplace with floor to ceiling picture windows either side and bay windows. There are 2 sets of double doors to the garden terraces. The reception/dining hall has a vaulted ceiling and raised open red brick fireplace, with double doors to the terrace. The bespoke family kitchen/breakfast room is a delightful combination of sitting room, dining room and kitchen together, with a bespoke range of fitted units with 5-ring Siemens induction hob and extractor above, Siemens fan assisted oven, Siemens combi oven/microwave, Siemens fridge and freezer, Miele wine fridge. Outside
The Pheasantry is approached by a long sweeping stone chip driveway with a separate field gate access to the paddock at the southern end of the formal garden. The driveway meanders towards a Heritage style double car port and garage with ample additional parking beside The Pheasantry.

The stylish but easily manageable gardens are laid principally to lawn, with a wide stone terrace, retaining brick walls and flint water feature to the rear. Directions

From the M40 (J6 Stokenchurch): Take the A40 towards Oxford. Turn 1st left signposted Christmas Common, proceed for 3 miles, passing through Christmas Common, and continue on the same road, passing along the extensive brick wall to Watlington Park on the right and passing Greenfield Farm on the left. Proceed to the end of this road, turn left downhill towards Stonor and Pishill. The Pheasantry will be found on the right after approximately ½ a mile, and well before Pishill.

From Henley-on-Thames: Proceed north up The Fairmile (Oxford Road, A4130). Fork right up the Stonor Valley, signposted Assendon and Stonor. Proceed through Stonor on to Pishill and through Pishill, passing The Crown public house on the right. Proceed past the vineyard, and as the road climbs gently away from Pishill The Pheasantry will be found on the left.
