Horse Heath Cottage directly fronting the common, is approached via a drive at the junction of Horse Hill, Middle Road and School Hill. The common offers lovely country walks and bridleways as well as being used by Chesham & Ley Hill Golf Club and Ley Hill Cricket Club.

There are two village public houses, The Crown and The Swan all providing a sense of a thriving rural community. Larger towns such as Chesham (Metropolitan Line) about two miles, Amersham (Metropolitan/Chiltern Line) about four miles and Berkhamsted (Main Line) about six miles, all provide multiple shopping facilities, amenities and stations for the London commuter.

South Bucks is renowned for its education including Dr Challoner's Grammar School for boys in Amersham and the High School for girls in Little Chalfont and Chesham Co Educational Grammar School. Ley Hill also has its own popular primary school.
