Description

Kevock Bank House is a detached stone built house set in a walled garden with additional woodland providing privacy and screening. The property originally dates back to Georgian times but has subsequently been extended in the Victorian era and again more recently by the current owners to create the extensive house it is today. The property has all round aspects and benefits from plenty of natural light throughout the day. It has been sensitively and cleverly adapted to cater for modern family living with free flowing, flexible and comfortable living and reception space throughout the ground floor. The property retains many wonderful features of the eras in which it was built, and these include stained glass windows, Victorian etched glass, mantelpieces, decorative cornicing and natural timber.

The main door opens to a welcoming reception hall from where the principal reception rooms are accessed and the stair rises to the upper floor. The double length dining and sitting room is situated to the east of the property and benefits from aspects at both ends making it a wonderfully light room, with a glazed door opening to the garden at the rear. A home office is situated off to the side of the house. The elegant drawing room with large wall mounted gilded mirror is located at the other side of the hall and has a working fireplace and beautiful cornicing. The room links to the contemporary and recently extended dining kitchen. The high specification and beautifully appointed kitchen is by Poggenpohl and has top of the range Wolf appliances.

The living spaces interlink along the rear of house with an open plan feel from the kitchen through to the family room which lies adjacent to the kitchen. It is a particularly cosy room with a log-burning stove. Next to this there is a spacious cloakroom with WC. Steps lead down to the lower ground floor where there is a Billiards room, with the de-commissioned original range cooker, decorative water pump, wine cellar and a potential sixth bedroom, currently used for storage. This lower level could be a superb self-contained flat ideal for an Au Pair or relative.

The stair splits to two separate first floor landings where the bedroom accommodation is situated. The principal bedroom lies to the front of the house and provides wonderful views over the Esk Valley and benefits from a dressing room and a luxurious en suite bath and shower room. There are four further double bedrooms on this floor as well as a family bathroom and additional shower room.

Grounds
The grounds extend to approximately 1.53 acres and include the extensive area of woodland to the east and south of the driveway. Woodland extends along the shared drive to Kevock Road and provides amenity for a wide variety of animals, plants and there is a wide variety of mature trees. The driveway winds through a rhododendrons and colourful specimen shrubs, and sweeps round to the side of the house with a large parking area with ample space for a number of vehicles.

The sizeable walled garden lies behind the house and provides a range of lawns, herbaceous borders and fruit and vegetable gardens. There is a wide varierty of mature specimen plants, shrubs and trees providing colour for much of the year.
