Tramonto sits directly above the water on the western coastline of Mykonos, positioned to face the open horizon and the evening light that defines this side of the island. Built in the traditional Cycladic manner, the villa combines whitewashed volumes, natural stone walls and shaded terraces with interiors that are markedly more contemporary in mood. The result is a house that feels rooted in its setting while remaining calm, refined and visually restrained throughout.
The approach unfolds gradually through stone pathways and planted terraces before opening fully toward the sea. From nearly every outdoor space, the eye moves uninterrupted across the Aegean, with neighbouring islands appearing low on the horizon beyond the pool. The orientation of the property allows sunlight to move across the terraces from morning until late evening, while the western exposure brings long sunsets directly into the principal living spaces.
At the centre of the outdoor areas is a curved infinity pool that mirrors the colour of the sea below. Unlike the sharper geometry often found in contemporary villas, its softer teardrop form introduces a more fluid relationship with the surrounding terraces and coastline. Sunbeds, shaded lounge areas and outdoor dining spaces are arranged across multiple levels, allowing the house to function equally well in full summer sun or beneath the shelter of the pergolas during the hottest hours of the day.
Inside, the atmosphere shifts toward a more understated palette of pale stone, soft textiles and dark timber detailing. Large sliding openings connect the living and dining areas directly to the terraces, allowing the boundary between interior and exterior to disappear almost entirely when opened. The main salon faces west toward the sea, while carefully positioned openings frame smaller views of the coastline and neighbouring coves throughout the house.
The kitchen introduces a darker materiality, with matte black surfaces and minimal cabinetry contrasting against the lighter tones used elsewhere. Positioned beside the dining area, it remains connected to the terraces and sunset views rather than enclosed from them. Throughout the interiors, the architecture prioritises proportion, light and openness over decoration.
Accommodation is arranged across nine en suite bedrooms distributed between the two levels of the villa. Several suites open directly onto private terraces or balconies facing the water, while the principal suite occupies a particularly privileged position overlooking both the coastline and the pool below. Early morning light reaches these eastern-facing rooms softly before the stronger afternoon sun moves back across the western terraces.
A covered outdoor gym is integrated discreetly into the lower level of the property, positioned to remain open to the sea air while shaded from direct exposure. Additional outdoor sitting areas are tucked between stone walls and planted corners, creating smaller moments of privacy within the larger scale of the estate.
Despite its waterfront setting, Tramonto remains sheltered and composed rather than exposed. The architecture uses thick stone walls, recessed openings and deep verandas to temper both wind and heat, creating comfortable outdoor living areas throughout the season.
As dusk settles over the coastline, the terraces begin to glow with reflected light from the pool, while the horizon gradually fades from deep blue into copper and violet beyond the water.
