A historical Sutton County Ranch, the original Cusenbary Ranch was founded in the 1880’s by D.B. Cusenbary, a founding father of Sonora who moved from Kentucky in 1879. Originally comprised of 20,000 acres, the State of Texas purchased more than 3,000 acres in 1916 to establish the Texas A & M Agriculture Research Station; Rex Cusenbary worked extensively with researchers to develop tools and techniques that still benefit ranchers in the area today.
