Rotherfield Lane is on the outskirts of the sought-after village of Mayfield which is reached within approximately 0.8 miles

Mayfield is a beautiful, historic hilltop village, dating back to the 10th century and full of character properties and with a vibrant village community. State and private schools: There is a very good choice in the area, including primaries in Mayfield and Wadhurst, Prep schools in Five Ashes (Skippers Hill), Hawkhurst (St Ronans and Marlborough House) and Sacred Heart in Wadhurst. At secondary level there is Uplands Academy in Wadhurst, Heathfield Community College and the Beacon Academy in Crowborough, private co-ed options at Sevenoaks, Eastbourne, Brighton and Upper Dicker (Bedes), as well as Tonbridge for boys and Mayfield and Benenden for girls.

The surrounding countryside lies within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with very fine scenery and offers a variety of country pursuits, with sailing and water sports at Bewl Water, near Wadhurst, and the vast open spaces of the historic Ashdown Forest to the west. The South Coast at Eastbourne is reached within approximately 22 miles and the South Downs National Park at Lewes approximately 17.6 miles.
