Severn River, Severn Bridge - Pulling into the paved double driveway in front of the two car heated garage is always a treat. Your guests pull into the other paved driveway at the top. Landscaped gardens and slab granite steps lead you to the timber frame entrance of your almost 3,000 square foot lake house. It's quiet and peaceful now, but that won't last long. Guests unpack in the well appointed guest room and sprawl across the family room sectional to admire your wall of family memories - pictures of family fun that will last forever. You wander though to the kitchen to fill drink orders and note the giggles coming from the bunk room as you take in the last light of day pouring through the wall of windows lakeside. Good you thought to lay the fire. Everyone seems to end up around the Muskoka stone fireplace at the end of the day. An easy walk down to the water precedes waving at your neighbours slowly boating by. The dogs remember the invisible fencing just in time!Sit a while under the riverside gazebo.Lights strung along its perimeter softly glow. There's just time for a quick game of horseshoes before dark and some of the group decide to swim, the less adventurous just wiggling their toes on the sand beach. The swimmers then head to the sauna and everyone gathers on the upper deck at the built in barbecue. Something smells divine! Will it be a wood fire in the pit tonight or will that wait until tomorrowô The gas fire pit is chosen and the bar in the Caboose is open for business. Tomorrow after boating into Sparrow Lake, doing some waterskiing and venturing down to Swift Rapids lock for the view, the horseshoe pit, trampoline, darts, lily pad and card games will all be well enjoyed. It's always fun having family and friends come up, because that's what it is all about. A few minutes of quiet contemplation on the dock after a busy weekend never goes amiss though.
