Island in the mountains ! here - within the waves of the enchanted Chiemsee - you find the only mid-europaean island refuge, far away from stress and hectic, although in South-Germanys tourist hotspot Nr 1.
Once you cast off the mainland, all your sorrows and worries stay left behind on the banks. The water is mountainclear and offers bathing temperatures even during fall. The little island lies there in the middle of this huge lake, surrounded by a picturesque mountain panorama. Of the fifty buildings on the island, the old monastery of the Benedictines is the undisputed beauty. Here, the islanders get there fresh baked bread, some cheese and alongside God´s blessing ! On the highest point of the for 5.000 years inhabited island, a majestic linden tree watches over its locals and outlives weathers and human failures. Very close to its protruding branches , our piece of land takes place, guiding us down to the riverbank, beach and the little harbour.
The building - originally built in the late fifties of the last century - is run as an inn, housing a brewery as well as an apartment and was generally sanitized in 2016. In these walls, they brew the finest beer all over Germany - the "Island Beer". Surrounding the house, there is a beautiful garden, where guests enjoy an outstanding view over the lake and the surrounding mountains and in addition they´re offered a "red" in the evening, that first paints the sky in baby pink, before it sets the whole lake on fire - a sight, that moves even the oldest fishermen, every evening again !
Of course one can alter the determination of the house into a great family home, or else - just with a few, individual remodeling steps. The thriving restaurant, called "Inselbräu", offers 350 seats to its guests - all year round and is famous for its roast meat and beer !
Moore some three motor- or sailing boats on our super-sheltered little harbour. Even the hottest summers, are to be enjoyed on the lawn of the private beach and the waters in front.
A new owner will have to decide...: wether going on making some good money, or modification into a privat lake-chalet !? The owners anyway, will get the permission for driving motorboats and they´ll get a nice dock assigned in Gstadt as well !
