This exquisitely restored Chateau sits in beautifully landscaped gardens and parkland, boasting majestic 200 year old cedar trees and uninterrupted views across the rolling countryside of the Gâtine. The original chateau, with its round (western) tower has 14th century origins with substantial subsequent alterations, most notably; the addition of a second (eastern) wing in the late C16th, and two square towers in the C17th, only one of which, the eastern tower, remains today. The round C14th tower would have originally had crenelated fortifications but these were later replaced with an elegant carved stone balustrade, and further enhancements were made during the C18th "the century of light'. These included the enlargement of many of the windows including those in the splendid Louis XIII grand salon, where two pairs of large, dual-aspect windows allow light to flood the room in the "salons traversants" style. The addition of the Mansard roof in the early C18th also increased the height of the second floor rooms, allowing larger windows, and these rooms were subsequently converted into servants quarters in the C19th. The neo-classical stable block, and the barn with its chapel-like façade, were designed to be pleasing to the eye rather than purely functional.

Over the last three years the current owners have undertaken extensive structural renovations and re-imagined, refitted and redecorated the entire chateau, combining authenticity and tasteful attention to detail to create a truly stunning home. Although there is over 600m2 of living accommodation the owners have skilfully created an ambiance of comfortable elegance with a choice of either cosy and intimate receptions rooms or the grand scale of the Louis XIII salon.
