Rippling Waters is situated in one of Cookham’s best addresses, situated between Winter Hill, part of the National Trust-preserved Cookham Commons, and the river Thames. The commons provide excellent walking and stunning elevated views over the river. Cookham is set within glorious rolling countryside in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are scenic walks along the Thames Path and within the surrounding woodland, with golf, football, cricket and rugby clubs nearby.

There are three primary schools and three nursery schools situated in Cookham, with a comprehensive range of private and state schooling options in the area include Sir William Borlase's Grammar School, Beaconsfield High School, Eton, Harrow, Wycombe Abbey, Caldicot Preparatory School and some excellent schools in the Maidenhead, Marlow and Henley area.

Cookham is delightfully rural, yet perfectly positioned for access to both Marlow and Maidenhead where you will find a more extensive mix of bars, cafés and restaurants, as well as an eclectic range of local independent and national retailers.

For commuters, Cookham has a train station with a service to Paddington (via Maidenhead) in as little as 31 minutes, with an Elizabeth Line connection into central London from Maidenhead. The M40 and M4 motorways are easily accessible via the A404(M).

Rippling Waters is a truly unique home, situated directly on the river Thames in a highly sought-after location. The property was built circa 1810 and has featured in a variety of films and television programmes, including True Blue and an adaptation of Wind in the Willows. Outside
Rippling Waters stands in around a third of an acre, its plot well concealed from the road and neighbouring homes by mature trees all around the land boundary. The tall gates at the entrance swing open to a large driveway with ample parking, and the detached studio which could be easily reinstated as a garage. Behind the studio, a charming trellised path leads to the house, which is surrounded by attractive planting including roses and climbers, and a lawn leading down to the water’s edge. Within the house there is an enclosed wet dock mooring suitable for a 30-foot vessel, with a 10-foot ceiling height at normal tide. Separately there are a further two moorings on the riverbank.

Directions

From the centre of Marlow, proceed south on the High Street and at the double roundabout go straight over and cross Marlow Bridge. Turn left onto Quarry Wood Road and just before the turning to Quarry Wood the entrance will be seen on the left-hand side.
