The Cupboard has an excellent central setting in Earlsferry, close to the golf course, sports centre, and about a 120 metre walk from Earlsferry's spectacular beach, renowned as one of Scotland's finest sandy beaches. Elie / Earlsferry is well known for its water sports, including sailing, paddle-boarding and windsurfing, all of which take place in the sheltered bay, while on land there are two golf courses, one the acclaimed 18-hole course and a short 9-hole course suitable for beginners. Several hard tennis courts and a bowling green are also available within the village. Elie Sports Club offers group and individual coaching in golf and tennis during school holidays. Elie is well served by pubs and cafés which include the popular Ship Inn.

Elie / Earlsferry is in the East Neuk of Fife, famed for its picturesque fishing villages and unspoilt beaches.   St Andrews, the home of golf and the setting for one of Britain's oldest universities, is only 14 miles away. There are traditional links golf courses at nearby Crail, Leven and Lundin Links and new courses at Kingsbarns and St Andrews Bay.

Edinburgh is around 45 miles away accessed by road. The new Levenmouth Rail Link opened in June 2024, and includes a new station at Leven which makes the location even more accessible by rail.

Description

The Cupboard is a charming and beautifully presented former weaver's cottage dating back to the 1800s and situated in Williamsburgh, right in the heart of Elie and the Royal Burgh of Earlsferry. The stone built house has a traditional appearance with a red pantile roof and sash and case windows. The current owners carried out a stylish and extensive renovation in 2019. As well as being a charming holiday home in a popular seaside village, the property comes with excellent potential to be run as a short-term holiday rental business, subject to obtaining the required license.

The superb kitchen / dining / sitting room sits under a high vaulted, timber panelled ceiling with characterful wooden beams and with remote controlled Velux windows. There is also a further south-facing window, which together with the Veluxes, provides this spectacular room with an abundance of natural light. At the heart of the room is a Charnwood log burning stove, and the kitchen area is fitted with storage units with wooden worktops and an integrated Belfast sink. At the opposite end of the room is a dining area offering a built-in banquette seating area with hidden storage.

The bedroom sits to the side of the principal room, and has a set of original refurbished Crittall double doors, that open up into it. It features bespoke designed and built solid plywood bunks, and a further built-in cabin bed set into the window space. Working window shutters provide privacy, and there is also useful built-in storage and shelving.

The shower room is part timber panelled with a Velux window overhead. It is fitted with a shower cubicle, wash hand basin and WC. From the principal space, a solid, portable plywood ladder connects to a useful open galleried space in the loft, flanked by industrial style bookshelves, with a Velux window providing natural light.
