Location

Pipers Hey is situated opposite the fine 12th century parish church of St Osmunds, close to the centre of this most picturesque village, a designated Conservation Area.

The village is dominated by attractive period properties, with a street scene that has changed little in centuries.

In the village there are an excellent range of facilities including a well supported post office and village store, bakery and village school, The Acorn public house and Summer Lodge a five star Hotel.

Evershot was immortalized in Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the d’Urbevilles and is surrounded by land owned by Ilchester Estates, the seat of which is Melbury Park, just to the north of the village.

The county town of Dorchester, the Abbey town of Sherborne and the Georgian market town of Bridport all lie within easy reach by car and provide an excellent variety of shopping, recreational, educational and cultural facilities.

The A303 can be joined at Sparkford with access to London and the Home Counties and there is a mainline railway station to London Waterloo available from both Dorchester, Sherborne and Yeovil Junction.

Description

Main House
Pipers Hey is thought to have been built in the 1930s, the attractive two storey property incorporating an old barn, once in the curtilage of the original property on the plot that has long since been demolished following a fire. The house has an appealing mixture of brick and stone elevations under a slate roof and well laid out accommodation over two floors. A spacious reception hall has a staircase to the first floor and access to a cosy kitchen with AGA and a bay window with views to the church. The Cottage
Just a few yards from the main house is a useful cottage, built of brick with single storey accommodation incorporating a sitting room with double doors to outside, an open plan kitchen/dining/living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom.

Outside
The gardens and grounds at Pipers Hey are of particular appeal and it is rare to have such a spacious plot, so close to the centre of a village, particularly one with such lovely views over the village and surrounding countryside. The property is approached from the village lane where a private drive rises to the house and cottage and providing parking for several cars, access to the ample garaging and culminates in a turning circle with mature shrubs and hedging. Directions

From the south head north on the A37 between Dorchester and Yeovil and take the left hand turning signposted to Evershot, Holywell, Summer Lodge Hotel and Acorn Inn. Proceed for about one mile and into Evershot village and the property is located on Fore Street directly opposite the Church.
