The building was constructed in 1968 and an interesting feature, perhaps relating to the ‘Cold War’ of the time, is that it is atomic bomb proof. There is even an atomic bomb shelter in the basement. It is important to note that this property can be sold to foreigners – non Swiss nationals. CRANS-MONTANA – AN ENVIABLE LOCATION

One of the many important selling points of the property is its location. The building and its grounds are situated on a large compound by the 15th hole of the renowned Ballasteros golf course, home of the prestigious Omega European Masters and other important tournaments. It is indisputably the most spectacular course on the European Tour schedule.

This means that the centre of the village is a walk of only some five minutes from the property. You just have to walk over (in winter) or alongside (in summer) holes 16, 17 and 18 to reach both the clubhouse and the village centre.

In fact, walking is one of the many delights of the area, alongside the more obvious ones of skiing and golf. For Crans-Montana lies on a relatively flat, sun-drenched plateau at around 1500 metres above sea level, as a result of which, walking is much easier in and around Crans than at many of the other well known resorts which attract foreign nationals. This may be particularly important if the owners are elderly.

Unlike many other fashionable locations, Crans also has a lively summer season. This is partly due to its excellent golf facilities, for not only does it boast the Ballasteros golf course, it also has a 9 hole course, designed by Nicklaus Design, with another three courses nearby. The other factor is the excellent micro climate enjoyed by the area, for the village of Lens, which is part of this community, has the most annual hours of sunshine of any place in Switzerland.

The skiing facilities are, of course, first class and cater for skiers of all ages and abilities. Skiers (and hikers) can go into the mountains, right up to 3250 metres. There are numerous ski lifts connecting the ski areas of Crans-Montana, Violette and Aminona.

Crans-Montana is also renowned for its wonderful exclusive shops, which are probably matched only by Zermatt and St. Moritz. However, if the lure of the shops becomes a little too much, you can easily escape to the quieter environs of nearby Lens or Montana Village!

Above all, Crans-Montana is a family-friendly resort where, in addition to its skiing and golf facilities, you can enjoy the five swimming lakes, walks through aromatic mountain forests along an extensive network of footpaths and relaxing fondue evenings in its rustic inns. Last, but not least, the new owners of this outstanding property will never tire of the magnificent views of the Valais Alps, extending from the Matterhorn to Mont Blanc.
