Location

Daymer is a sheltered bay between Polzeath and Rock, a beautiful stop along the South West Coast Path which connects all coves and bays along this stunning stretch of Atlantic coast. Daymer is popular with families for its safe swimming and extensive rockpools, which on a low tide extend to the neighbouring beach of Greenaway.

A short walk leads around Brae Hill to the wide expanse of beach along the estuary towards Rock. Stepper Point, at the mouth of the estuary, protects Daymer and all the coves along to Padstow.

Behind the dunes a path leads from the beach to St Enodoc Church, which was unearthed in the late 19thc. from sand that had engulfed it over the centuries. Today it lends its name to the championship golf course that surrounds it. Skylarks is close to the beach, the path across the golf course and the coast path to Greenaway beach.

Description

Skylarks was constructed in 1955, of cavity block with white render and a slate roof. The open plan living room was extended and the loft converted to bedrooms and shower rooms in 2005, further updated with a new bathroom in 2018. In 2023 the garage was converted to a games room.

A glazed front door opens into a square hall and to the right an impressive, open plan living room and fitted kitchen. The large living room is dual aspect to the south and west and has lovely views across the estuary to Padstow, Tregirls Beach, Hawker's Cove and Brae Hill. Patio doors open to the very spacious decked terrace and outdoor dining area under a shaded pergola. For cooler months there is an open fireplace.
The dual aspect fitted kitchen incorporates appliances and has a breakfast bar and seating for seven. Adjoining is the utility and laundry room with good storage, the boiler cupboard and the back door to the rear courtyard area, outdoor shower and wetsuit store.

Back in the hall double doors open to a dining room which accommodates a table for ten and overlooks the front terrace, garden and the estuary. From here a corridor connects a three bedded dual aspect room, a modern bathroom and a large double bedroom the lovely view towards the beach, with patio doors to the terrace. A guest wc is off the hall.

Stairs rise to the first floor arriving at a well-lit landing with a south facing Velux window. There are roomy storage areas on the landing and access to under eaves cupboards.
To the left are steps down to a double bedroom, which opens onto the upper balcony and sundeck. This triple aspect room has good storage and a view across the estuary.
The principal bedroom has floor to ceiling glazing making the most of the fabulous view of the beach and around to the west, across Fishing Cove Field towards open sea. The final bedroom is a dual aspect double/twin with inbuilt shelving and wardrobe, as in the principal bedroom. Between them are two modern shower rooms. Sloped ceilings add cosiness to the upstairs, while conveniently placed Velux windows allow extra natural light. Pale décor adds to the natural brightness at both levels.

There is a large, naturally bright games room in place of the original garage. The decked terrace is a feature along the front of the house, ideal for dining, sunbathing, and enjoying the seclusion that the mature garden provides with mature, evergreen trees framing the estuary views. A gate at the end of the garden opens into a lane which leads to the beach and the coast path.

Directions

From the A39 at Wadebridge, take the B3314 until the left turn for Rock. Continue to Pityme, take the right turn onto Trewiston Lane and continue through Trebetherick, until the left turn to Greenaway and St Moritz. Follow the lane to the left and then to the right, downhill to the left turn into Ham Close. Skylark is the second property on the right.
