Damsells Mill is located 1.2 miles to the northwest of the picturesque Cotswold town of Painswick, in a fabulous setting with excellent access to local footpaths including the Wysis Way, a long-distance walking trail which connects Offa's Dyke Path and the Thames Path, passing along the eastern boundary of the property.

Painswick, known as the Queen of the Cotswolds, is renowned for its fine parish church with 99 clipped yew trees in the churchyard. It also has a range of shops, pubs, galleries and restaurants and extensive sporting facilities including thriving rugby, cricket and bowls clubs and a tennis club.

Dating back to 1674, Damsells Mill is a historic former mill with abundant history: formerly a corn mill, then a cloth mill until the 1820s and finally a flour mill before it was converted to a private house, the property was built as cottages for the mill workers. The property sits alongside Painswick Stream and evidence of its long and interesting history can be seen within the entrance hall, where the original watermill has been beautifully restored and incorporated into the décor. From Cirencester head north on the A417 and take the exit signposted Birdlip. Enter the village and turn right onto the B4070 and then turn left. After 0.7 miles bear right onto Buckholt Road and continue for 2.4 miles. Join the A46 and follow the road for 1.7 miles. Turn left, signposted Sheepscombe; the property will be seen on the right-hand side after 0.3 miles.
