Description
The Old Post Office is a charming Grade II listed cottage, and as its name suggests was formerly the village Post Office. The appealing elevations have bands of red brick and knapped flint and stone, with stone quoins to the front, under a slate roof. The elevations are enhanced by small-paned windows some of which are the original cast iron casements. The cottage has been the subject of extension and improvement in the last four years, with the addition of a spacious sitting room overlooking the garden and the refitting of the main shower room, yet still offers the purchaser scope to continue with modernisation and redecoration to their own taste. There is oil fired central heating.
A panelled front door opens into an entrance porch, and a glazed door then leads into the reception/ dining hall with double aspect windows, brick chimney breast and fireplace, wood wall panelling and an understairs cloaks storage cupboard. The family room is currently used as a separate dining room and has a painted wood fire surround with stone inset, hearth and open grate. The sitting room room has a vaulted ceiling with feature exposed brick and flint wall and ceiling beams. Triple aspect windows include French doors to the terrace. The kitchen has windows to front and rear and is fitted with a range of cupboards and drawers, sink unit, double oven and hob. There is a large utility/ boot room with plumbing for a washing machine, oil fired boiler, tiled floor and a stable door to the rear garden. Leading off is a cloakroom. Stairs from the dining hall lead up to the landing. The main bedroom has a dressing room off, which was formerly a shower room. The second bedroom has a built-in wardrobe. The family shower room is fully tiled and has been refitted with a double width shower, basin and WC, and also houses the airing cupboard.
Outside
A shingle driveway with an extensive parking area leads to the timber Garage. The gardens are a delightful feature extending in all to about 0.63 acres. At the front a central path between two lawns leads the front door. The expansive rear garden faces south west and has a paved and shingle terrace area, a variety of trees and shrubs providing seclusion and an attractive backdrop. There are useful timber garden stores.
