Eastcombe Farm is situated on a quiet lane with no near neighbours, about I mile to the south of the charming village of South Cadbury, famous for its hill fort, known as Cadbury Castle.

Nestled in beautiful undulating Somerset countryside, the village has The Camelot Public House, a village hall and the fine parish church of St Thomas a Becket.

About a mile away is the larger North Cadbury with a primary school, village shop, The Catash Inn public house, a village hall and the recently opened Teals farm shop and restaurant.

Just over five miles to the north is the increasingly popular small market town of Castle Cary, which has a larger range of facilities as well as a mainline railway station to London Paddington (about 90 minutes).

The area is well known also for The Newt, an impressive boutique country house hotel and estate. Sherborne, Wincanton and Yeovil provide a larger range of amenities and the A303 provides easy access to the south west and London, via the M5 & M3.

Racing is available at Wincanton and Salisbury. The Jurassic coast in Dorset, a UNESCO World Heritage Site is about 33 miles.

Description

Eastcombe Farm which is not listed, is probably around 200 years old and built with attractive, local Ham stone elevations under a slate roof. The house has characterful, well laid out accommodation arranged over two floors with later 20th century additions to the building on the ground floor. From the lane a path leads to the front door, opening into a particularly nice reception hall with flag stone floor. From the hall is access to the large well fitted family kitchen with windows on three sides flooding the room with light. Beyond the kitchen is the utility room and access to outside. To the south west of the property is the snug, with open fireplace. To the south east is the spacious sitting room, also with fireplace and beyond that a good size garden room with glorious views over the gardens and views over open country. On the first floor is a generous landing, a principal bedroom suite, two further bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Outside The setting of this property is genuinely outstanding and a major asset to the house. The views are some of the finest in the area, uninterrupted and unspoilt. From the lane a private, gravel drive provides ample parking and access to a garage block, incorporating a gym area and separate workshop or store. Beyond that is the cottage. The gardens fan out to the south of the house, with a large level area of lawn, leading down to a post and rail fence, enclosing a paddock. Take the A303 heading West. South Cadbury will be signposted off the A303. Continue through the village passing The Camelot on the right hand side and out the other side. Proceed for about one mile, then turn left into Crangs Lane. Eastcombe is the first house on the right hand side
