This emblematic château in Burgundy was designed and constructed under the supervision of the chief architect under the reign of François I, summoned back to France from Italy in order to achieve the work. Intended as a royal residence, it is notably remarkable for its square footprint, its monumental frescos created by the period's finest artists, and its original listed gardens designed by Le Nôtre which were to be the renowned landscape gardener's final undertaking.
Set on the banks of the Armançon River and the Burgundy Canal, the Renaissance Palace stands proudly in the heart of 50 exceptional hectares of grounds, one of the most extensive château parks in the region. The ensemble comprises stables, a farm and an orangery, and boasts French and English-style gardens with an 18th-century folly, a lake, romantic bridges, fountains and centennial trees.
Between 2016 and 2017, two remarkable gardens were created by renowned landscape architect Laure Quinam, who was honoured in 2018 at the Victoires du Paysage (Landscape Awards) for her innovation and inspiration.
