Local shopping can be found in Pluckley (1.2 miles), Charing (4 miles), Smarden (4.5 miles) and Headcorn (7.7 miles).   Whilst more extensive shopping together with a wide range leisure facilities can be found in Ashford (5.7 miles) and Maidstone 16.4 miles.

There is an excellent choice of schools within the area in the state, secondary and private sectors at all levels.

Trains to London Charing Cross, Cannon Street, Waterloo East and London Bridge run from Pluckley and Headcorn, with access to London Victoria from Charing. Ashford International has a high speed service to London St Pancras in about 37 minutes.

The M20 and M25 motorway networks are joined at Leeds Castle J8 or J9 at Ashford.

From the centre of Pluckley turn right into The Street and proceed into Station Road. After about 0.7 of a mile turn left into Malmains Lane and proceed to the end of the lane and the entrance to Saracen Cottage will be found straight ahead.
