Reekie Linn House is in a particularly beautiful location near the foot of Glenisla and close to the boundary between Perthshire and Angus. From its elevated position the house has far reaching views across rolling farmland and to the local hills of Formal and Balduff.

The Angus Glens and the Cairngorms National Park are to the north. To the south are the fertile farmlands of Strathmore. The River Isla passes close by (100m from the house) on its journey from Glenisla over the spectacular Reekie Linn waterfall to meet the River Tay just south of Blairgowrie. Glenisla is arguably the greenest and prettiest of all the Angus Glens but its neighbouring Glens are all easily accessible and stunning in different ways.

Reekie Linn House is ideal for anyone who appreciates countryside activities, whether it is skiing at Glenshee (about 23 miles), walking in the Glens, trout fishing in hill lochs and local reservoirs, bird watching at Lintrathen and Kinnordy nature reserves, or salmon fishing on the rivers Isla and Ericht.

There are three golf courses at Alyth with a championship course at Rosemount in Blairgowrie. Kilry has an active local community centred around the parish church and village hall. Peel Farm shop and cafe is less than a mile to the west of Reekie Linn House and just 4 miles south local shops in Alyth include a butcher, a Co-op, Post Office, chemist, ironmonger and garages. Blairgowrie and Kirriemuir are about 10 miles away, while Perth (25 miles) and Dundee (20 miles) have a much wider selection of shops, services and cultural opportunities.

The Isla Primary School is about 1 mile away and there is secondary schooling at Kirriemuir and Blairgowrie. Independent schools are served by buses from Alyth and Blairgowrie and include The High School of Dundee as well as Craigclowan, Strathallan and Glenalmond College which are all on the west side of Perth.

Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports are both 66 miles away and Dundee’s airport (20 miles) has daily flights to London.

Description

Reekie Linn House is an attractive traditional house dating from 1887. The property has been sympathetically modernised over the years with original cornicing, window shutters, timber floors and bay windows enhanced by newer installations such as wood burning stoves, an open plan dining kitchen and contemporary bathrooms.

Whilst in practice the main entrance to Reekie Linn House is via the back door, it has a smart front door which is accessed by stone steps from the garden. The pretty tiled porch opens to the reception hall which has a drawing room and sitting room on either side. Both are bright formal rooms with tall bay windows and wood burning stoves set into decorative fire surrounds. The drawing room is the larger of these rooms and has impressive cornicing. Behind it is a study which has been fitted out with a desk and bookshelves. The sitting room is connected to the playroom behind it. Subject to obtaining the relevant consents there is potential to re-configure these rooms depending on requirements. At the rear of the house there is an open plan dining kitchen with space for comfortable seating. This lovely room has a two oven AGA, cream painted timber cabinets and south facing windows that frame big views and fill the room with light. At this end of the house there is also a utility room, larder, shower room and a back door.

The original timber staircase leads to the first floor where there is a split landing. Directions

From Perth take the A93 to Blairgowrie and then the A926 towards Alyth. On reaching the Five Roads Roundabout, take the second exit and follow the B954 towards Glenisla. Turn right at the T-junction. After 4 miles drive over the River Isla and pass the entrance to the Reekie Linn Falls carpark on the right. Follow the road around a 90 degree corner and take the next turning on the right, into the driveway to Reekie Linn House.
