Location

Pennan is one of the three villages which lies on the attractive north coast of Aberdeenshire between Fraserburgh and Macduff. Pretty churches, cottages, ruined castles, clifftop walks and beaches can all be found along this stretch of coastline. Pennan is a tiny fishing hamlet just off the coast road, down a steep and meandering road. It is little more than single row of whitewashed stone cottages tucked between a cliff and the sea. The village leapt into the limelight when the British movie Local Hero was filmed here in 1982. Film enthusiasts come from all over the world to make a phone call from the red telephone box in the village.
