Location

Dial House occupies a prominent position within the village surrounded by beautiful walled gardens. It is located towards the southern end of West Lavington, a popular village with a range of local amenities including a village shop / Post Office, All Saints Parish Church, public house, Dauntsey's School and Dauntsey's Academy Primary School.

Nearby Market Lavington has a number of shops including a chemist, butchers, Co-Op supermarket and public house. Alternatively, Devizes is 6 miles to the north with a wider selection of shops and amenities including a weekly market, Wharf Theatre, sports clubs and Caen Hill locks. The Cathedral City of Salisbury and the charming Georgian City of Bath are easily accessible.

The Village lies on the northern slopes on the Salisbury plain with excellent communication to the surrounding areas. There are regular services to London Waterloo from Salisbury (about 19 miles) and London Paddington from Pewsey (about 13.5 miles). The A303 to the south gives access to the M3 and junction 15 of the M4 which is approximately 20 miles.

Description

Dial House is a most handsome William and Mary country house which dates from 1691 with later additions. It is built of mellow brick with stone mullion windows and quoins under a slate and tile roof. It is listed Grade II* as being of Special Architectural and Historic Importance. The main staircase is mentioned in the Pevsner Architectural Guides.

The house takes its name from the sun dial above the front door and provides elegant and classically proportioned accommodation which is ideal for both family living and entertaining alike. It combines stylish reception rooms with complimentary practical working areas and has a wealth of period features including stone fire places,original panelling (including oil painting), working shutters and cornicing.

On the first floor there are six bedrooms and three bathrooms, plus a further sitting room.

OUTSIDE
At the front of the property is an attractive pair of wrought iron gates between two brick pillars topped with ball finials. This leads through to a central stone path flanked with lawns and fringed by lollipop box and ornamental hedging to the front door.

To the east of the house is a driveway leading to the rear courtyard of outbuildings with plenty of room for parking. From London, take the M3 and turning off on to the A303. Continue on the A303 past Stonehenge and take the A360 towards Devizes. Proceed north and upon entering West Lavington the property will be seen on the right hand side just before the Bridge Inn.

From a northerly direction proceed south from Devizes on the A360 and continue through Potterne and Littleton Panell. The next village is West Lavington and the property will be found at the far end on the left hand side, just after the Bridge Inn, which is on the right.
