The history of Mondariz-Balneario, the smallest municipality in Spain, cannot be understood without the discovery of the Troncoso and Gándara Springs, the moment when the medicinal properties of Mondariz’s waters were identified and the idea of creating a thermal destination of national and international relevance began. Enrique Peinador took on the project of transforming Mondariz into a town dedicated to thermal tourism, and in 1908 both springs were restored and protected through projects designed by the architect from O Porriño, Antonio Palacios.
